24-hour gym access control and cameras
For gym owners, fitness studios, franchise operators and buildings with staff or resident gyms in Alberta and BC.

The quick answer
A 24-hour gym runs on its front door. Members get in with a fob, card or phone credential that works only while their membership is active, every entry is logged, and the system flags tailgating when one tap lets two people in. Cameras cover the entrance, gym floor, hallways and parking, never the change rooms or washrooms. Help buttons let members call for assistance during unstaffed hours, and remote video monitoring through our monitoring partner can watch the club overnight.

Systems that fit a 24-hour gym
| System | What it does |
|---|---|
| Access control | Member and staff entry by fob, card or keypad, with schedules for staffed and unstaffed hours. |
| Phone credentials | Members open the door with their phone, so there are no fobs to hand out or collect. |
| Tailgating alerts | Door sensors or camera analytics that flag when more than one person comes in on a single tap. See tailgating. |
| Security cameras | Entrance, gym floor, free weights, hallways and parking, never change rooms or washrooms. |
| Help buttons | Buttons on the floor and in hallways that alert the monitoring centre or an on-call manager during unstaffed hours. |
| Remote video monitoring | Our monitoring partner watches the club after hours and can speak through a speaker. |
| Washroom and vape sensors | Vape sensors with no cameras, for washrooms and change rooms, alerting staff phones. |
Linking entry to your membership software
Many gyms want the door to follow their membership software, so a member who cancels or falls behind loses access on their own. Some systems connect directly and some don’t. Tell us which software you use and we’ll confirm what can be linked before design.
Change rooms and privacy
There are never cameras in change rooms, washrooms, showers or tanning rooms. Cameras stay on the entrance, gym floor and hallways, with signs at the door. Alberta’s and BC’s private-sector privacy laws (both called PIPA) apply to video and door logs recorded by businesses. Post signs, point cameras only where you need them, limit who can view footage and keep it only as long as you need it. Not legal advice.
How we work around your opening hours
A 24-hour club never closes, so we change the front door over in a short, planned window, usually in the quietest hours, and keep a staff member or a temporary process at the door while it happens. Cameras and help buttons go in around members, a section at a time.
Want music on the floor too? We also install background audio by zone. We work across Alberta and BC from our Edmonton head office and our offices in Calgary, Red Deer and Kelowna.

24-hour gym security questions
How do members get into a 24-hour gym?
With a fob, card or phone credential that works only while their membership is active. Every entry is logged by member and time.
Can members use their phone to open the gym door?
Yes. Phone credentials let members open the door from an app, so there are no fobs to hand out or collect. Many gyms offer fobs too.
Can the system stop tailgating?
It can flag it. Door sensors or camera analytics alert you when more than one person enters on a single tap, so you can follow up with the member.
Can door access follow our membership software?
Often, yes. Some systems link directly so cancelled members lose access on their own. Tell us your software and we’ll confirm before design.
Are cameras allowed in gym change rooms?
No. There are never cameras in change rooms, washrooms or showers. Cameras cover the entrance, floor, hallways and parking.
What happens if a member needs help when no staff are there?
A help button alerts the monitoring centre or an on-call manager, who follows the plan you set up with us.
Can someone watch the gym overnight?
Yes. Remote video monitoring through our monitoring partner can watch the club during unstaffed hours.
Can you change our door system without closing the gym?
Yes. We change the front door over in a short planned window in the quietest hours, with a temporary process at the door.
Can you detect vaping in our change rooms?
Yes. Vape sensors have no cameras and send alerts to staff phones when they detect vaping or smoke.
