Kantech installation and support in Alberta and BC

Hightower designs, installs and fully supports Kantech access control end to end, from Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer to Kelowna, Penticton, Vancouver and Victoria.

About Kantech

Kantech, part of Johnson Controls, is a long-standing access control brand used widely across Canada. Its EntraPass software, KT-1 and KT-400 controllers and ioSmart readers scale from a single door to large multi-site systems.

What we install from Kantech

EntraPass software

Special, Corporate and Global editions, from single buildings up to multi-site enterprises.

KT-1 and KT-400 controllers

One-door and four-door IP controllers that grow with the building.

ioSmart readers and cards

Encrypted smart card readers, with an easy path forward from older proximity cards.

Mobile and remote management

EntraPass apps for managing doors and users from a phone, plus support for HID Mobile Access.

Choosing the right Kantech setup

Kantech projects are mostly about picking the right EntraPass edition and controllers. Special Edition suits single buildings with a modest number of doors, Corporate Edition adds features for larger sites and more users, and Global Edition is built for organizations running many sites from one system. KT-1 controllers make sense where doors are spread out, since each one sits right at its door, while KT-400 controllers handle four doors from one panel in a comms room. Pairing ioSmart readers with encrypted cards gives you much stronger security than older proximity fobs.

Upgrading an existing Kantech system

Kantech has been installed in Canadian buildings for a long time, so we often inherit older systems. In many cases the existing wiring and doors can be reused while EntraPass and the controllers are updated, and multi-technology readers let residents and staff keep using their current fobs while new encrypted cards roll out.

Service notice: Kantech has discontinued its ioProx wireless fobs and receivers, including the P82WLS, P84WLS and P700WLS. See what it means and your options, or call 587-920-1610 (Alberta) or 236-473-1610 (BC).

Kantech, fully supported end to end

One team handles your Kantech system from the first plan to years of service.

We start by auditing every door, the current credentials and how people actually use the building. Then we plan access levels and schedules, install or upgrade controllers and readers, load users and train your team. Where DSC intrusion panels are on site, we connect them so access and alarms work together.

Kantech questions

Can you upgrade an older Kantech system?

Often, yes. EntraPass makes moving from older Kantech controllers to KT-1 and KT-400 easier, and multi-technology ioSmart readers help you switch card types gradually.

Does Kantech work with DSC alarms?

Yes. Kantech access control can connect with DSC intrusion panels, so access and alarm events are managed together.

Can Kantech use mobile credentials?

Yes. EntraPass supports mobile credentials, including HID Mobile Access, alongside cards and fobs.

Do you install Kantech in Edmonton, Calgary and across BC?

Yes. We install and support Kantech across Alberta, including Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer and Lethbridge, and in BC, including Kelowna, Penticton, Vancouver and Victoria.

Can you take over an existing Kantech system?

Yes. We service, repair and take over Kantech systems installed by other companies, and document everything for you.

How long does a Kantech installation take?

It depends on the size of the system. A small installation can often be done in a day or two, while larger buildings are planned in phases. You get a timeline with your quote.

Do you offer maintenance plans for Kantech?

Yes. Maintenance plans include scheduled checks, software and firmware updates, and priority service for your Kantech system.

Can we add video monitoring alongside Kantech?

Yes. Kantech runs your access control, and remote video monitoring runs on your cameras. Where the systems are connected, door or alarm events can be checked against live video by the monitoring team. See video monitoring.

Are Kantech P82WLS and P84WLS fobs still available?

No. Kantech has discontinued its ioProx wireless line, and the new ioSmart wireless fobs don’t work with the old receivers. See your options.
