How to set door schedules and holidays in Kantech EntraPass
Step-by-step help for EntraPass Special Edition, Corporate Edition and EntraPass Web, for property managers and system administrators.
The quick answer
In EntraPass, go to the Definition tab and click Schedule. Pick a schedule or click New, set up to four intervals with a start and end time and the days they apply, tick Hol1 to Hol4 if an interval should also run on holidays of that type, and click Save. Add holidays under Definition > Holiday, give each one a date and a holiday type, tick Recurring if the date never changes, and click Save.
We’ll do it for you
Short on time? We’ll set up your schedules and add the year’s holidays for you, remotely where your system allows it, or on site.
Before you start
Works with: EntraPass Special Edition and Corporate Edition (desktop), and EntraPass Web. Menus can differ slightly between versions.
Who it’s for: System administrators and property managers
You need: an EntraPass operator login that can edit schedules and holidays.
Good to know: A schedule can be used by many doors and access levels. Changing it changes all of them. Which schedule each door uses is set in the door settings; ask us if you need that changed.

Create or change a schedule
In EntraPass, click the Definition tab, then Schedule.
To change a schedule, pick it from the Schedule list. To make a new one, click New and give it a clear name, such as “Front door business hours”.
Each schedule has up to four intervals. For each one, enter a Start and End time in 24-hour format (00:00 to 24:00). The end time must be later than the start time.
Tick the days the interval applies to.
If the interval should also apply on holidays, tick the holiday types it covers (Hol1 to Hol4). Leave them unticked if it shouldn’t run on holidays.
Click Save.
An interval can’t cross midnight. For hours like 22:00 to 06:00, use two intervals, 22:00 to 24:00 and 00:00 to 06:00, and tick the right days for each.
Add a holiday
Click the Definition tab, then Holiday.
If your system has more than one site or gateway, choose whether the holiday applies everywhere or only to selected sites.
Click New, enter a name (for example “Canada Day”) and pick the date.
Choose the holiday type, Hol 1 to Hol 4. The type decides which schedule intervals run that day.
Tick Recurring if the holiday is on the same date every year, such as Canada Day. Leave it unticked for holidays whose date changes, such as Good Friday or Thanksgiving, and add them again each year.
Click Save.
Kantech recommends programming holidays at the start of the year. EntraPass supports four holiday types, so you can give, say, statutory holidays and a building’s own closure days different hours.
Using EntraPass Web
Schedules: open the schedule settings and click Add. Name the schedule, drag the slider buttons to set the start and end time, tick the days and any holiday types, and click Add Interval for more time blocks. Click Save.
Holidays: open the holiday settings, enter the name and date, tick Recurring if needed, choose System or Sites, and drag each site into one of the four holiday boxes. Click Save.
Tips for Alberta and BC buildings
- Add the year’s statutory holidays in January, and check the ones whose date moves, such as Good Friday, Easter Monday and Thanksgiving.
- Alberta and BC don’t have exactly the same statutory holidays, so buildings in each province need their own list.
- Check your door schedules the week the clocks change in March and November. See recorder showing the wrong date or time.
- Use clear names, so the next person knows what each schedule is for.
If it didn’t work
Doors unlocked on a holiday
The holiday wasn’t added, has the wrong date or type, or the interval has that holiday type ticked.
Doors are an hour off
Usually the daylight saving change. See doors unlocking at the wrong time.
The end time won’t save
The end time must be later than the start time. Split overnight hours into two intervals.
The change didn’t affect a door
That door uses a different schedule. Call us and we’ll check the door settings.
Rather we did it?
We’ll set up your schedules and add the year’s holidays for you, remotely where your system allows it, or on site.
Stuck with a system nobody will fix?
We repair and take over cameras, access control, intercoms and alarms installed by other companies, when your current provider has fallen short.
Questions
What’s the difference between a schedule and a holiday?
A schedule sets the hours for normal days. A holiday tells EntraPass that a date is special, and the Hol1 to Hol4 boxes in each schedule decide what happens that day.
Why did our doors unlock on a stat holiday?
Usually the holiday wasn’t added for this year, or the schedule interval has that holiday type ticked.
Do I have to add holidays every year?
Only the ones whose date changes, such as Good Friday and Thanksgiving. Tick Recurring for fixed dates like Canada Day.
Can one schedule cover overnight hours?
Yes, with two intervals: one up to 24:00 and one from 00:00.
Can you set up our holidays for us?
Yes. We can add the year’s holidays and check your schedules, remotely where your system allows it, or on site.
