Our guides, comparisons and answers are written by the team that installs and supports commercial security systems across Alberta and BC. Here’s where the facts come from, what we never publish, and how to tell us if something is wrong.

The people behind every page.
Our guides, comparisons, city pages and answers are written by the Hightower team: the people who design, install and support commercial security systems across Alberta and BC. They’re credited to Hightower as a company, not to individuals.
Everything is written for commercial buildings: condo and rental buildings, offices, shops, industrial sites, schools and dealerships. We don’t write about home security.
Where the facts come from
What we check before a page goes up.
Our own work. Planning advice, checklists and the problems we describe come from the installs, service calls and system rescues we do. We never name clients or show their buildings.
The manufacturers. Product names, product lines and what a product does are checked against the maker’s public information. Where a feature depends on the version or model, we say so and confirm it during design.
Public guidance. Privacy answers summarise public guidance from the Alberta, BC and federal privacy commissioners, link the sources, and are marked as general information, not legal advice.
What we never publish
The rules every page on this site follows.
No prices
We explain what drives the cost of each system, then quote after a site walk. You won’t find prices or price ranges on this site.
No invented numbers
No made-up statistics, percentages or results.
No promised response times
We say we’re open 24/7. We don’t publish response times.
Real reviews only
We quote real Google reviews word for word and never write, edit or merge reviews.
No borrowed credentials
We don’t call ourselves certified or an authorized dealer for a brand unless that’s been confirmed.
No client work
We don’t show past projects, client names or photos of client buildings.
How our comparisons work
Why we can compare brands fairly.
We only compare brands we install and fully support end to end, so our recommendation is about which one fits your building. Each comparison gives the short answer first, a side-by-side table, and the building types where each option fits best.
Brand names appear as plain text. We don’t reproduce manufacturers’ logos.
Keeping pages up to date
Products and rules change, so the pages do too.
Service, city, industry and guide pages show the date they were last updated. When a product is discontinued or replaced, we update the pages that mention it, as we did when Kantech discontinued its ioProx wireless fobs.
If something on this site is wrong or out of date, email contact@callhightower.com and we’ll check it and fix it.
Stuck with a system nobody will fix?
We repair and take over cameras, access control, intercoms and alarms installed by other companies, when your current provider has fallen short.
