Security systems for stores, restaurants and clinics

Cameras, alarms, access control and Wi-Fi for retail stores, restaurants and cafés, medical and dental clinics, and small offices. Designed, installed and supported by Hightower across Canada and the USA.

Why stores, restaurants and clinics need each system

What each system solves, and why it’s worth having.

Access control

Card access on back doors, stockrooms and medication rooms ends the key headache every time staff change. You can see who opened a door and when.

More about access control

Security cameras

Cameras over registers, entrances and back doors deter shoplifting and employee theft, and give you footage to resolve disputes and support insurance claims. Remote video monitoring through our monitoring partner can watch storefront and back-door cameras live after close.

More about security cameras

Video intercom

A back-door intercom lets staff see deliveries and vendors before buzzing them in, without leaving customers or patients unattended.

More about video intercom

Parcel lockers

Click-and-collect lockers let customers pick up orders after hours, which keeps sales moving while the doors are locked.

More about parcel lockers

Intrusion alarms

Glass-break sensors, motion detectors and silent panic buttons protect the storefront after hours and protect staff during the day.

Networks

Point-of-sale and staff systems should never share a network with guest Wi-Fi. Separate networks keep payments secure and Wi-Fi fast.

Built for your kind of business

Every business is vulnerable in different places. Here’s where we focus for each.

Retail stores

Cameras over registers and entrances, glass-break sensors on storefronts, and panic buttons for staff.

Restaurants and cafés

Controlled back-door deliveries, cameras on cash and kitchen doors, temperature alarms on coolers and freezers, and guest Wi-Fi kept off your POS.

Medical and dental clinics

Access control for medication and records rooms, panic buttons at reception, and after-hours alarms.

Small offices and professional services

Card access instead of keys, monitored alarms, and a network and Wi-Fi that just work.

Problems we solve for small businesses

The everyday issues owners and managers call us about.

  • Shoplifting and register theft
  • Break-ins through the front glass after hours
  • Back doors propped open by staff
  • Keys that walk out the door with former employees
  • Deliveries piling up at the back door
  • POS and guest Wi-Fi on the same network
  • No way to check the business from your phone

Stuck with a system nobody will fix?

Small business security questions

Can you install outside our business hours?

Wherever possible, yes. We plan the work around your opening hours so customers and patients aren’t disrupted.

Can I check my cameras from my phone?

Yes. You can view live video, search recorded footage and get alerts from your phone, and give access to managers or staff.

What happens when a panic button is pressed?

It silently signals the monitoring centre, which follows the response plan you set up with us, without alerting the person in front of you.

Are there privacy rules for cameras in clinics?

Yes. Provincial privacy laws apply, so cameras stay out of exam and treatment rooms, and we plan placement and signage with those rules in mind.

Can our guest Wi-Fi be separate from our POS?

Yes. We set up separate networks so guests never share a network with your payment and business systems.

Can you take over our existing system?

Yes. We take over and repair systems installed by other companies, and document everything for you.

Can you add remote video monitoring to our store or commercial property?

Yes. We set up remote video monitoring on new or existing cameras for retail and light commercial. A monitoring team watches alerts 24/7, warns people off through speakers and calls police or your contact when it’s a real threat.
