Inner Range vs Kantech: which access control fits your site?
An honest comparison from an installer that installs and fully supports both.
The quick answer
Choose Inner Range if you want access control and intrusion detection in one system, with a high-security focus, from a small building on Inception to a large site on Integriti. Choose Kantech if you want a widely installed access control system run from EntraPass software, with DSC alarm panels alongside it.

Best choice by building type
| Building | Our usual recommendation |
|---|---|
| Condo or rental building | Kantech for a familiar access system; Inner Range Inception where alarms and doors should be one system. |
| Office building | Either. Inner Range for doors and alarms together; Kantech where the building already runs EntraPass. |
| Industrial or restricted site | Inner Range Integriti for restricted areas and integrated alarms. |
| Multi-site portfolio | Both scale. We recommend based on what the sites run today. |
If you have Kantech wireless fobs
Kantech has discontinued its ioProx wireless P82WLS and P84WLS fobs and the P700WLS receiver, and the new ioSmart wireless fobs do not work with the old receivers. Read our notice on the discontinued fobs before you decide.
Costs to consider
The price depends on the number of doors, readers and credentials, whether alarms are part of the same system, the software edition, and how much of the existing wiring can stay.
Ask any installer for the full cost of ownership, including licences, subscriptions, maintenance and future expansion. We include all of it in our written quotes, so there are no surprises.
Still not sure?
We install and fully support both, so we’ll recommend whichever fits your building, after a site walk.

Inner Range vs Kantech questions
Is Inner Range or Kantech better?
Neither is better for every site. Inner Range suits sites that want doors and alarms in one system or higher security. Kantech suits buildings that want a familiar, widely supported access system.
Does Inner Range include the alarm?
Yes. Inception and Integriti combine access control and intrusion detection in one system.
Can we switch from Kantech to Inner Range?
Usually, with new controllers and often new readers and credentials. Locks, door hardware and much of the wiring can often stay. We plan it in stages.
Do you install both?
Yes. We install and fully support both Inner Range and Kantech, so our recommendation is about fit, not what we sell.
Can door alarms go to a monitoring team?
Yes. Forced and held-open door alarms can go to our monitoring partner with the matching camera view.
Do we get admin access?
Yes. We hand over admin access and full documentation on every project, whichever brand you choose.
