Ubiquiti UniFi cameras, access and networks in Alberta and BC

Hightower designs, installs and fully supports Ubiquiti UniFi cameras, door access, intercoms, switches and Wi-Fi end to end for commercial buildings, from Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer to Kelowna, Vancouver and Victoria.

About Ubiquiti UniFi

UniFi is Ubiquiti’s line of security and networking equipment, all managed from one UniFi console and app. Cameras run on UniFi Protect, doors and intercoms on UniFi Access, and gateways, switches and Wi-Fi on UniFi Network. Recordings stay on the console at your building, with secure remote access through the UniFi app and Site Manager, and Ubiquiti doesn’t charge licence or subscription fees for Protect.

What we install from Ubiquiti UniFi

UniFi Protect cameras

Bullet, dome, turret, 360° and PTZ cameras, including AI models with licence plate and face recognition, recording to a UniFi console or NVR on site.

UniFi Access door control

Readers and hubs for doors, gates and elevators, with key cards, mobile unlock in the UniFi Identity app and Touch Pass badges in Apple Wallet.

UniFi intercoms

Door intercoms so staff can see and talk to visitors and couriers, with a call directory and schedules set in Call Manager.

UniFi networks and Wi-Fi

Cloud gateways, PoE switches and Wi-Fi access points that power the cameras and readers and run the building’s network.

Choosing the right UniFi setup

Start with the console: a cloud gateway or Cloud Key suits a smaller site, and a dedicated UniFi NVR suits buildings with many cameras or long recording times. Then plan each camera by what it has to show (faces at doors, plates at gates, wide views of a lot), the doors and readers, and the PoE switches and cabling that power it all. Because cameras, doors and the network share one system, we design them together so nothing competes for bandwidth or power.

Adding UniFi to an existing building

UniFi Protect supports ONVIF, so many existing third-party cameras can be added while you replace them over time, and UniFi Access hubs are designed for upgrading older door controllers. We survey what you have, reuse the cabling and cameras worth keeping, and plan the change-over so doors and recording keep working. If a UniFi system was set up by someone else and nobody has the admin login, we help you get it back for systems you own.

Ubiquiti UniFi questions

What is Ubiquiti UniFi?

UniFi is Ubiquiti’s line of security and networking equipment: Protect for cameras, Access for doors and intercoms, and UniFi Network for gateways, switches and Wi-Fi, all managed from one console and app.

Do UniFi cameras need licences or a subscription?

No. Ubiquiti doesn’t charge licence or subscription fees for UniFi Protect. Recording and AI detections run on the UniFi console or NVR at your building.

Where are UniFi recordings stored?

On the UniFi console or NVR at your building, not in the cloud. You can watch live and recorded video remotely through the UniFi app or Site Manager, and back up clips to cloud storage if you choose.

Can UniFi read licence plates and recognise faces?

Yes, with UniFi AI and G6 series cameras, including the AI LPR camera made for licence plates. We help you plan where to use them and put up clear camera signs, in line with Alberta and BC privacy guidance.

Can staff unlock doors with their phone?

Yes. UniFi Access supports key cards, mobile unlock in the UniFi Identity app, and Touch Pass, which adds a badge to Apple Wallet on iPhone and Apple Watch.

Can UniFi work with our existing cameras?

Often, yes. UniFi Protect supports ONVIF, so many third-party cameras can be added to it. We check your cameras on the site visit.

Do you install UniFi in Edmonton, Calgary and across BC?

Yes. We install and support Ubiquiti UniFi across Alberta, including Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer and Lethbridge, and in BC, including Kelowna, Penticton, Vancouver and Victoria.

Can you take over an existing UniFi system?

Yes. We service, repair and take over UniFi systems installed by other companies or IT providers, help you regain admin access to systems you own, and document everything for you.

Can UniFi cameras be watched after hours?

Yes. We can plan remote video monitoring through our monitoring partner and confirm the setup for your cameras during design. See video monitoring.
