How to add, change and delete a user code on a DSC PowerSeries Neo alarm

Step-by-step help for DSC PowerSeries Neo keypads, for property managers, business owners and building operators.

The quick answer

In short

With the system disarmed, press [*][5] and enter your Master or Supervisor code. Enter the two-digit user number, press [*], then type the new code. To delete a code, select the user number, press [*] and [*] again. Press [#] to exit, then test the code.

We’ll do it for you

Short on time, or no master code? We can add, change or remove user codes for you, and set up codes for staff, cleaners and contractors.

Before you start

Works with: DSC PowerSeries Neo keypads (HS2016, HS2032, HS2064 and HS2128). Classic PowerSeries panels work in a similar way.

Who it’s for: Property managers, business owners and building operators

You need: the system disarmed, and the Master code (user 01) or a Supervisor code. Code length (4, 6 or 8 digits) is set by your installer, and every code on the system is the same length.

Add a user code

  1. Press [*][5], then enter your Master or Supervisor code.

  2. Enter the two-digit user number (for example 02). On LCD keypads you can scroll with < > and press [*].

  3. Press [*] (or [1]) to reach the Access Code prompt.

  4. Enter the new code. It must be the same length as your other codes.

  5. To add another user, enter the next user number. Press [#] to exit.

  6. Test the new code by arming and disarming the system.

Change an existing code

Follow the same steps and select the existing user number, then enter the new code. The new code replaces the old one.

Codes can’t be duplicated: if you enter a code that’s already in use, the keypad gives an error tone.

Delete a user code

  1. Press [*][5] and enter your Master or Supervisor code.

  2. Select the user number and press [*] (or [1]).

  3. Press [*]. The code is deleted. On LCD keypads the user’s flag changes from P to -.

  4. Press [#] to exit, then try the deleted code to confirm it no longer works.

Proximity tags linked to a deleted user have to be enrolled again. The Master code (user 01) can be changed but not deleted.

User numbers by panel

  • HS2016: users 01 to 48
  • HS2032: users 01 to 72
  • HS2064 and HS2128: users 01 to 95 (E models have more)

If it didn’t work

The menu doesn’t open

The code was wrong, or that code doesn’t have permission to manage users. Try the Master code.

An error tone

The code is already in use by another user, or it’s the wrong length.

The option is missing

Your installer may have turned it off. Call us and we’ll check the panel’s settings.

Rather we did it?

We’ll add, change or remove user codes for you, and keep a record of who has which code.

Questions

What is the master code?

The master code (user 01) can add, change and delete other codes. It can be changed but not deleted, so keep it somewhere safe.

Can I see which codes are in use?

On LCD keypads, the user list shows a flag beside each user number: P means a code is programmed. The codes themselves aren’t shown.

I forgot the master code. What now?

Call us. We confirm you own or manage the building first, then regain access the safe way. We never publish default codes.

Can you manage codes for us?

Yes. We can add and remove codes for staff, cleaners and contractors, remotely where your system allows it, or on site.

Do user codes work on all partitions?

Not always. On a partitioned system, each code is set for one or more partitions. Call us if a code works in one area but not another.
