Construction site security: cameras, gates and monitoring for active builds

For general contractors, developers and site superintendents in Alberta and BC.

Updated

The quick answer

The short answer

A construction site needs security that goes up fast, runs without permanent power or internet, and moves as the build changes. That usually means solar or cellular camera units, gate access for trades and deliveries, monitored fences on the perimeter, and remote video monitoring after hours through our monitoring partner. When the building is finished, the same team can plan and install the permanent systems.

What goes missing, and where

Common targets

  • Copper wire and cable
  • Tools and equipment left overnight
  • Fuel
  • Appliances and fixtures waiting to be installed
  • Materials delivered before they’re needed

Common weak spots

  • Temporary fencing that’s easy to lift or cut
  • Gates left open for late deliveries
  • Dark corners and laydown areas
  • Sites that sit empty on weekends and holidays

What we install on active sites

SystemWhat it does
Solar and cellular camerasSelf-powered camera units that need no permanent power or internet, and can be moved as the build progresses.
Monitored fencesSensors on the perimeter fence, with electric deterrents where suitable, that alert when someone climbs or cuts it.
Gate accessFob, PIN or phone access at the site gate, so trades get in on schedule and every entry is logged.
Gate intercomDelivery drivers call the site office or superintendent, who can open the gate from a phone.
Remote video monitoringOur monitoring partner watches the cameras after hours, warns intruders through a speaker and calls police or your contact.
Trailer and container alarmsIntrusion alarms for site offices, tool cribs and storage containers.

Before the site walk

Have the site plan and phases ready, and note where power and internet are available, if at all. Mark the gates and delivery hours, the areas that hold tools, fuel and materials, who should get alerts, and how long the build will run.

From build site to finished building

Most new commercial and multi-family buildings need access control, cameras, intercoms and networks when they open. Bring us in early and we’ll plan cable, door hardware and power with your trades before the walls close, so the permanent systems are ready at handover, with admin access and full documentation for the owner.

Remote and rural sites

Building somewhere with no power or network at all? Our remote site security page covers fully off-grid systems, wireless and satellite links, and monitored fences for oil and gas leases, gravel pits and laydown yards.

Starting a build soon?

We’ll walk the site with your superintendent and plan security for each phase of the build.

Construction site security questions

Can cameras work on a site with no power?

Yes. Solar-powered and cellular camera units run without permanent power or internet.

Yes. Self-powered units can be moved as phases change, so coverage follows the work.

Do you offer monitoring for construction sites?

Yes. Remote video monitoring through our monitoring partner covers the site after hours and on weekends.

Can trades get gate access on a schedule?

Yes. Gate access by fob, PIN or phone can be set by trade and time, with every entry logged.

Do you install the permanent building systems too?

Yes. We plan and install access control, cameras, intercoms and networks for the finished building, and hand over admin access and documentation.

Do you work across Alberta and BC?

Yes. We work across Alberta and BC from our offices in Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer and Kelowna, and our parachute team can go anywhere else. Ask us about it.
