Enter a description such as the courier’s name, a PIN and the delivery times, then click Save and give the PIN to the courier. Create a delivery PIN

  1. Log in to the ButterflyMX dashboard on a computer.

  2. Go to Delivery Authorizations and click New delivery authorization.

  3. Enter a Description (for example “Canada Post” or “Purolator”) and the PIN.

  4. Under Delivery Times, set the from and to times and the days, or tick Delivery allowed all day. Click Add Schedule for more time windows. If you don’t set any times, the PIN works at any time.

  5. Click Save, then give the PIN to the courier.

Give each courier company its own PIN, so you can change or remove one without affecting the others.

Edit or delete a delivery PIN

  1. Go to Delivery Authorizations and find the PIN.

  2. Click the three dots (⋮) next to it and choose Edit or Delete.

  3. Save your changes. If you changed the PIN, tell the courier.

How couriers use the PIN

  1. At the intercom, the courier taps Delivery.

  2. They enter the delivery PIN and tap Enter.

  3. The door unlocks if it’s within the PIN’s delivery times.

Each entry is logged with a time-stamped photo, so you can see who came in. Couriers without a PIN can still search the directory and call the resident.

Manage visitor passes

  1. Log in to the ButterflyMX dashboard on a computer and open Visitor Passes.

  2. Use the search bar or Filters (access type and validity) to find a pass.

  3. Click a pass to see the resident it belongs to, the doors it opens, when it’s valid and each visitor on it.

  4. To end the whole pass, click Deactivate. To remove one person, click Deactivate Visitor; to add one, click Add Visitor.

Residents create visitor passes in the ButterflyMX app, once the building has turned them on. Visitors get a code or QR code to use at the intercom. You can add an internal note to a pass that only admins can see.

Which one to use

  • Delivery PIN: a reusable PIN you set up for a regular courier company, limited to the hours you choose.
  • Delivery Pass: a single-use code a resident creates in the app for one delivery. Admins can turn it on or off.
  • Visitor pass: created by a resident for a guest, cleaner or dog walker, valid once, for set dates, or on a repeating schedule.
