How to add, share and remove a camera system in Hik-Connect

Step-by-step help for the Hik-Connect app, for property managers, building operators and security staff.

The quick answer

In short

In Hik-Connect, tap +, choose manual adding and enter the recorder’s serial number and verification code from its label. To give someone access, share the device with their Hik-Connect account and pick what they can do, instead of sharing your login. Remove a device from the device list, or at hik-connect.com for your own devices.

We’ll do it for you

Short on time, or the device is stuck on someone else’s account? We can add, share and remove devices for you, and set up each person with their own access.

Before you start

Works with: The Hik-Connect app

Who it’s for: Property managers, building operators and security staff

You need: a Hik-Connect account. To add a device, you also need its 9-digit serial number and verification code (on the device label).

Add your recorder or camera

  1. Open Hik-Connect and tap + (top right).

  2. Choose manual adding and make sure the adding type is Hik-Connect, or scan the QR code on the device.

  3. Enter the serial number (capital letters), tap save, then enter the verification code.

  4. Optional: give it a name (alias). Wait for adding complete.

If it says the device is already linked to another account, the owner of that account must share it with you instead.

Give someone else access

  1. Go to More > Manage Sharing Settings (Share Device).

  2. Enter the person’s email or mobile number (with country code). They need their own Hik-Connect account.

  3. Tap +, select the device and tap OK.

  4. Tap the device in the share list and choose what they can do: live view, playback, alarm notifications, two-way audio or PTZ. Tap OK, then Save.

  5. They accept the invitation in their Notifications.

Change what a shared user can do

Open the share in Sharing Details, tap the device name, change the permissions and tap OK.

Remove a device

  • A device someone shared with you: in list mode, tap the device, then Delete.
  • Your own device: on a computer, sign in at hik-connect.com, open Device Management, find the device, click the delete (trash can) icon and click OK.
  • Stuck on someone else’s account (for example a previous owner or installer): it has to be unbound. With Hik-Connect 4.2.0 or later on the same network as the device, start adding it (scan its QR code or enter the serial number), choose the unbind option when asked and enter the device password. If you don’t have the device password, call us.

If it didn’t work

“Already added by another account”

Ask the account owner to share it with you, or unbind it as above. Call us if you can’t reach them.

The shared user can’t see the device

They need to accept the invitation in Notifications, using the account you shared it with.

The device shows offline

The recorder or the building’s internet may be down. Call us.

Rather we did it?

We’ll set up sharing for your staff, so nobody needs the main login.

Can you set this up for us?

Yes. We can add the devices, share them with your staff and set what each person can do.
