Belden network cabling in Alberta and BC

Hightower designs and installs Belden copper and fibre cabling end to end for commercial buildings, labelled and documented, from Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer to Kelowna, Vancouver and Victoria.

About Belden

Belden makes network and signal cable and the connectivity that goes with it. Its range includes solid copper Category 6 and 6A cable, fibre optic cable, REVConnect jacks and patch panels, and cable made for security, access control, audio and video systems, as well as industrial networking.

What we install from Belden

Category 6 and 6A cable

Solid copper horizontal cabling for workstations, Wi-Fi access points and PoE cameras.

Fibre backbones

Fibre between floors, buildings, gatehouses and yards, where copper runs would be too long.

REVConnect connectivity

Jacks, patch panels and cords matched to the cable, for clean, consistent terminations.

Security and access cable

Cable for door readers, locks, contacts, intercoms and alarm sensors, run alongside the network cabling.

Choosing the right Belden cable

Pick the cable by what it carries and where it runs. Category 6 suits most desks and security devices; Category 6A suits Wi-Fi access points, higher-power PoE and runs you want to last through the next upgrade. Every run also needs the right fire rating for the space it passes through, such as FT4 or FT6, and outdoor or direct-burial cable where it leaves the building. We plan it from the drawings and the systems that will run on it.

Re-cabling an existing building

Old, mixed or undocumented cabling is behind many network faults. We trace and test what’s there, keep the runs that pass, replace the ones that don’t, including any copper-clad aluminum (CCA) cable we find, and leave the comms room labelled and documented.

Belden questions

Is Belden category cable solid copper?

Belden’s Category 6 and 6A network cables use solid copper conductors. We buy through established distributors and check the jacket markings, so no copper-clad aluminum (CCA) cable ends up in your walls. Read our CCA cable alert.

Should we use Category 6 or Category 6A?

Category 6 suits most desks and security devices. Category 6A is the better choice for Wi-Fi access points, higher-power PoE and runs you expect to keep through the next equipment upgrade. We recommend it run by run.

Can Belden cable carry PoE for cameras and door readers?

Yes. Solid copper Category 6 and 6A cable is designed to carry PoE. We plan the cable, run lengths and switches together so every camera, reader and intercom gets the power it needs.

Do you install fibre?

Yes. We install fibre between floors, buildings, gatehouses and yards where copper runs would be too long, and connect it to your network.

Can you get a Belden system warranty?

Belden, like other major cabling makers, offers system warranties through its own installer programs, each with its own requirements. If your project calls for one, tell us and we’ll confirm what applies before we quote.

Do you install Belden cabling in Edmonton, Calgary and across BC?

Yes. We install and support Belden cabling across Alberta, including Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer and Lethbridge, and in BC, including Kelowna, Penticton, Vancouver and Victoria.
