Parkade door or gate won’t open with your fob or remote?
For property managers, building operators and front desk staff. Applies to any access control brand.
The quick answer
If only your fob or remote doesn’t work, it’s usually the fob, its access, or the remote’s battery. If no one can get in, the reader, the gate or door operator, or the power is usually the problem.
We’ll do it for you
We’ll fix the fob, remote or reader side and tell you whether the door or gate itself needs your door company.

Only one person can’t get in
- The remote’s battery is low.
- The fob isn’t programmed for the parkade door, or not for this time of day.
- The fob was deleted or marked lost by mistake: see the Kantech fob guide or CDVI users and cards.
- The fob is held too far from the reader.
No one can get in
- The power is out. See doors in a power outage.
- The door or gate operator has a fault.
- The reader is offline.
- A safety sensor is blocked by snow, ice or debris.
- The door is stuck in the cold. See winter problems.
Safety first
Never force an overhead door or gate, and keep clear of moving doors and gates.
What our technicians do
We fix the access control side: readers, fobs, remotes and schedules. We don’t service the gate or overhead door operator itself, but we’ll tell you whether it’s an access control or a door problem, and work with your door or gate company. Same-day service available.
Gate still not opening?
We’ll check the readers, fobs and remotes, and work with your door company on the rest.
Stuck with a system nobody will fix?
We repair and take over cameras, access control, intercoms and alarms installed by other companies, when your current provider has fallen short.
Questions
Can you add our new remotes?
Yes, for remotes and fobs that work with your access control system. Tell us how many you need.
Why does it work for some people?
Their fobs have the right access and good batteries. Check the fob or remote that doesn’t work, or call us.
The gate opens but closes too fast.
Close timing is usually set on the gate or door operator, so your door company adjusts it. If the access control holds it open, we can change that timing.
